Thr Hemostatic Action, the Effects on the Isolated Uterus Muscle and blood Vessel of Yeoseogsan Extracts in Experimental Animals


Abstract
The bleeding time, plasma prothrombin time, the effect on uterine muscle and blood vessel, the acute toxic effect were researched to elucidate the hemostatic action of Yeoseongsan, Cortex Trachis, Fructus Mume, Rhizoma Zingiberis Siccatum extracts in experimental animals.
1. The oral adminstration of Yeoseongsan, Cortex Trachis, Rhizoma Zingiberis Siccatum extracts to mice showed the significant of bleeding time and Fructus Mume extract shortened a little the bleeding time without remarkable effects.
2. The oral administration of Yeoseongsan, Cortex Trachis, Fructus Mume, Rhizoma Zingiberis Siccatum extracts to mice showed the significant shortening of plasma prothrombin time.
3. Yeoseongsan, Cortex Trachis, Fructus Mume extracts showed the relaxative effect on the isolated uterus of rats and Rhizoma Zingiberis Siccatum extract did the contractile effect on the isolated uterus of rats. Also, Yeoseongsan extract showed the relaxative effect on the contractile force of rat uterus pretreated Protaglandin F_2¥á.
4. When Yeoseongsan, Cortex Trachis, Fractus Mume, Rhizoma Zingiberis Siccatum extracts were administered to the isolated thoracic aorta of rabbits, it did¢¥t show the relaxative and contractive effect on the isolated thoracic aorta of rabbits. But Yeoseongsan extracts showed the contractive effect on the relaxative force of rabbit thoracic aorta pretreated Prostaglandin F_2¥á
From the above results, it may be concluded that Yeoseongsan, Cortex Trachis, Fructus Mume, Rhizoma Zingiberis Siccatum extracts didn¢¥t show the hemostatic effect through the action on uterine muscle and blood vessel but did it with shortening the blood coagulation time through the increase of plasma prothrombin time production. Since all the minimum letal dose were more than 3,000§·/§¸, those ralely had the toxic effect. Also it is possible that further investigation will show the mechanism related between Yeoseongsan extract and Prostaglandin F_2¥á.
